Ardèche : Winter Sports

Discover the winter face of the Ardèche...

The Ardèche is primarily a spring, summer and autumn area and isn't really known as a winter-sports area being dwarfed by France's resorts in the Alps. The Ardèche mountains are extremely rugged but not as high as the Alps so snow is not guaranteed! However, it has some small winter resorts (some of them no more than a couple of poma lifts and a building where you can rent your skis and get a hot chocolate!) where you can try your hand at downhill or cross-country skiing or a number of other winter sports.

If you are a serious skier you will probably head straight for the Alps, and there are very good resorts within a couple of hours drive of the Ardèche, but if you are in the Ardèche in the winter and want a change of pace then try one of the local resorts - check to see that there is snow first!
